November 2020 Charitable Works

With the holiday season fast approaching, we would like to share how thankful we are to not only have an amazing group of members, but also to have had great participation and response as we try to transition over to virtual meetings and adapt to the new and changing times we live in. Unfortunately, the effects of our new reality with COVID-19 are felt not only by those affected with the virus, but also by those who have lost their jobs, homes, and ability to care for those they love. With this in mind, we are dedicating the month of November to our Charitable Works project and asking members to help out two organizations that benefit our Middle Tennessee area with either gifts of time or monetary donations.

The first organization is the Animal Rescue Corps, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct large-scale animal rescues from abusive and neglectful situations like puppy mills, hoarding, fighting rings, and natural disasters. They have a local shelter, the Rescue Operation Centre, located in Lebanon, TN that houses animals who have been rescued during any court proceedings and until they can be placed with rescue and shelter organizations to be placed for adoption.

You can learn more about Animal Rescue Corps at their website https://www.animalrescuecorps.org/ or on Facebook. On both their website and Facebook page, you can access their Donation page to make a one-time donation, become a monthly donor, or see their Amazon wish list to purchase supplies they need and have it sent directly to them.

They are also accepting volunteers to come and spend time with the animals, and you can fill out an application at https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?ap=1884759089.

The second organization is the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Almost 1,000,000 new unemployment claims have been filed in TN alone since the start of the pandemic, and many of these claims are by hardworking people whose families have never had to rely on others for assistance before. The Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is working hard to provide food to individuals and families in need so their basic needs are met. You can learn more at their website https://www.secondharvestmidtn.org/ or on their Facebook page. At both sites, you can learn more about ways to donate and make a huge difference in the lives of so many in our community.

We will also be making donations to both of these organizations on behalf of our chapter.

This has been a year of more fear and uncertainty than we are used to, and we are all working to figure out how to live, work, and persevere through the constant changes we are going through. Now, more than ever, we are committed as an organization to uplifting not only each other, but those in our communities as well.
